Safety

Safety is a large issue in Ibiza and unfortunately one of the major dangers here tends to be the police. They are very strict, aggressive and sometimes hit first and ask questions later. Behave yourself and you won't get into any trouble.

There are also African men (looky looky) who walk about in large numbers trying to sell dodgy goods.  Just politely say no if u don't want what they are offering (usually jewellery or drugs) and walk away!  Do not give them any cheek as they won't stand for it and they can be very aggressive.

Another huge danger involves drivers. Lots of people tend to walk back from Privilege/Amnesia along the narrow unlit road that links them to the two major towns. Lots of people go clubbing, drink, take drugs and then drive home, so account for it. Walk in the direction of oncoming traffic and move to the side when a car approaches. If you are drunk or drugged up then get a taxi or there are usually buses at set times outside most clubs.

If you hire a car or mo-ped/scooter whilst you are out there make sure you can drive the thing before you take it to the major roads. Also make sure you are covered by your insurance and a helmet can be a good idea.  I personally saw two accidents when I was there so believe me when I say be careful! (Hit and runs are not uncommon!)

There is very little street crime in Ibiza, so although getting mugged isn't totally ruled out, it's very unlikely. The same can be said of having your  room robbed, but there is still a chance so make sure u lock your door, etc.

DO'S/DONT'S

If you're an Ibiza first timer, then take a few tips from those who have been before...(even though I'd still say I have a lot to learn about the place):

Do

When planning time off work to go on holiday, book at least an extra week after your return for recovering. If you don't think you'll need it then you won't have experienced Ibiza to the max!

When booking your holiday try and get enough people together to make the experience all the more incredible!

Spend at least one night at Pacha, this has to be one of the most beautiful clubs in the world.  The roof terrace is a must, especially around 6am when the sun is coming up.

Drive around the island and see plenty of scenery. Ibiza is a beautiful place with lots of hidden alcoves and beaches. Why not give the clubbing a rest for just one day and see what you can discover. Honest!!!

View the sunset from the Café Del Mar. Choose your day carefully though. If there have been a few clouds in the sky then you could be in for a little disappointment when the crucial moment comes.

Spend a day at Space. This club is one of the nicest ever, and once you've been, you're never going to forget it. The music is incredible, the people beautiful and the setting divine.  Make sure that you spend some time in the garden terrace, which is directly below the flight path into Ibiza. The scene is so incredible as the planes go over it will take your breath away.

Get soaked at Es Paradis and Eden. Watch out though, there's little chance of getting a taxi with soaking wet clothes on.

Make sure u get a tan!!!  There is definitely the weather for it and you can't go back home looking as white as when u left!  If you're partying all night (Quite likely!)  then crash out on the beach or by the pool.  I did that and came back browner than ever! And believe me it is better than sweating away in your hotel/ apartment room!!!

And finally if u r taking drugs make sure u take plenty of water as it can get really hot at night and u could end up like this after a different kind of acid!!!:

Don't

Think about the possibility of you packing in your job, your friends and your lifestyle, selling everything you own and coming to Ibiza with a plan of living the life of a bum.  You will need the money, you'll miss your friends after a week, you'll get bored when there are no clubs to go to in low season!

Go out on your first night at 6.00pm with all your holiday money and a master plan of getting wrecked at any cost.  Remember pace yourself!!!!!!!!!!!

Annoy the police, they hit first arrest you later.  Behave and you'll go home minus a few bruises.

Annoy the African traders! (looky, looky men!) They like to hit first and ask no questions later! ( you will be lucky if there is a later!!!)

Sing football songs in the bars, beach or in a club.  Fun at the time, guaranteed to start fights and will not impress!!!!! (although we still managed to do it a few times!!!!)

Don't Take any of the following with you: girlfriend; boyfriend (i think it can be a benefit though sometimes!!!!!) dad, mum; a  book for a night in; cheap sun lotion.

Drink in clubs. 8 pounds for a beer and lots more for a shot.  Stick to the water and you might not pass out ,throw up, stagger about.  The prices in clubs are unbelievable!!!!!!!  A good tip is to claim u r diabetic and need some water!! Or just get wasted before hand!!!

Do bargain  holiday packages at unnamed locations. U get what u pay for!!

Get seen by camera crews. Ibiza is awash with them every year and getting yourself on TV may appear to be a good idea at the time, however when you see yourself on television at home it could all seem much more different.  Remember, you're parents could be watching.
