Travelling

Getting to Ibiza is very simple. The simplest way is to get a package deal that will have everything included. Manumission ( a club in San Antonio) have even set up their own travel company that will cater specifically for clubbers. You can contact Manumission Tours on 0171 836 1414.

Outside the UK

Bring it On Travel - American flights and clubbing holidays

This is a company offering holidays to Ibiza fom America.

Iberia can also arrange flights from America

FROM THE UK

I used Going Places and I would highly recommend them!  I would advise going with a company such as them as they arrange everything and leave you just worrying about money and what to wear!!!

If you prefer a 'do it yourself' holiday there are scheduled flights seven days a week with Iberia plus less frequent flights with many other airlines. Going charter is much cheaper, however the flight dates and times will be much less flexible.

The 2 hour flight (from Britain) should cost you approximately £120 to £140 early in the season, rising to £160 to £280 peak season. By shopping around the net or travel agents u r sure to find a cheap deal!

There are flights from Barcelona so for international flights it is probably better to fly to Barcelona 1st, then get a budget flight out too the island.

Once you arrive a taxi to Ibiza Town will cost you about 1000pts while a taxi to San Antonio will cost you 2500pts.  If traveling with a package holiday such as Going Places, Airtours etc. then a bus will usually take u from the airport to your destination and vice versa.  Also, most car hire companies have offices at the airport.

Staying there

If you make your own way out to the island it's best to have your accommodation sorted out before you leave. In high season most of places are booked up well in advance and you may end up unexpectedly homeless. Also don't turn up expecting to get a palace for pennies, some rooms do go for about £15 a night but remember, you get what you pay for. i.e. - a cardboard box!

The easiest way of sorting out your accommodation is to book a package deal as I did. However if you are going to do this, try to get named accommodation or at least a named resort. Not all places in Ibiza are geared towards younger people, (Go for the likes of San Antonio or even Ibiza Town) there are some purpose built family resorts to the north of the island.  If you get stuck here, it could cost you a fortune in taxis and you won't be impressing any of your fellow holiday makers when you arrive at 7am with 30 new found friends for a pool party.

If there are a group of you going, check out villa prices. It usually only works out a little more expensive for a villa with a private pool and all the comforts of home. Don't forget you'll need a car though, as most villas are in the hills above San Antonio. Some travel companies do packages including flights, villa and hire car. Ask your travel agent for details, and don't forget, out of season the villa will be someone's home so treat it with respect. Not a good idea if u r likely to be wrecked all the time!

GETTING ABOUT

Getting about on the Island can be quite tricky as most places are quite a distance apart. As mentioned before there are two main centres, San Antonio and Ibiza Town.

San Antonio is the home of the Cafe Del Mar, Cafe Mambo, Bar M and Es Paradise. There is a large British community here, most of which tends to centre around an area of town called the West End. The West End is loud, lager laden and laddish.

Ibiza Town is home to El Divino, Pacha and The Rock Bar and is the other centre for clubbers. In general, and unlike San Antonio, most places in Ibiza Town are quite nice with a friendly, more European crowd, the vibe is more cosmopolitan.

In between the two towns are Amnesia and Privilege, while Space resides a few kilometres outside Ibiza Town towards the airport.

The ability to get around the island is pretty essential if you are to get the most out of your visit. Hire cars are available at the airport and in both Ibiza Town and San Antonio, costing round about 4000-5000pts a day.

Taxis can be quite expensive. A taxi from Ibiza Town to San Antonio will cost about 2000pts. Privilege/Amnesia to Ibiza Town/San Antonio about 1300pts and Ibiza Town to Space 800pts.

Be warned though - Taxi drivers can be a little bit eccentric and their driving a little erratic!  So make sure u have a calm stomach and enough money to pay him or u will pay the consequences!!!!!!  Also don't try to stop a taxi by diving in front of it - THEY DON'T STOP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! (As can be seen outside Privilege - they have a death count!)
